Footage from Brophy’s swim

As a celebration of one year since my friend Ben Brophy swam the channel for Leukaemia And Lymphoma Research, he’s just uploaded a video containing the footage that Matt Neilson and myself took from the boat. Well worth a watch if you have the time.

If you find the swim impressive (as you should!) and haven’t already done so, then please remember there is still a donation page going! Thank you.

Be right back, just popping over to France

After over 2 years of training, Ben’s English Channel swim is finally upon us. We’ve been given the go ahead and have just left the shores of Dover to start a swim which could take anywhere from 14 to 24 hours (I think Ben will be aiming for 17)!

I’m sitting in the support boat for that period, ensuring that Matt Neilson and myself keep the camera rolling to capture this challenge. I admit, spending so long on a boat in the middle of the channel isn’t my ideal day out, however I can’t complain when I’m the one in the boat, rather than the poor guy swimming alongside it.

I wish Ben all the best for his swim. I have no doubt he can make it across, with the huge amount of training and dedication he has put into this. Whatever happens though, he’s managed to raise a huge amount for Leukaemia and Lymphoma Research, and he should be really proud of that.

You will be able to follow Ben’s progress using the map at this link showing the position of the boat. You can also donate towards the reason Ben’s doing this crazy thing at justgiving.com/teambrophy.
